Too often we don’t pay attention to our gut instinct.
Instead, we try to tell ourselves, it’s just nothing or that we’ll work it out. We pass it off as nerves.
Recently, a young woman accepted a babysitting job that she found via an online Facebook group. Like many people, she was trying to make extra money.
She had signed up for the group, answering the questions and waiting to get approved. And once she was approved, she began her job search.
I don’t think it ever occurred to her that she might run into the type of scam that she ran into.
Here’s what happened.
A 16-year-old was attempting to get a babysitting job that she saw posted on Facebook, in a Facebook group. It was her first time babysitting someone that she didn’t know.
The person looking for the babysitter stated that the person had two daughters, a one and a three-year-old. The person was going to pay $25 to $30 hourly.
The babysitter exchanged messages with the person, and after a few conversations regarding other work that the babysitter could do, the baby sitter decided to research the address.
That’s when the babysitter found out that the house was vacant and was for sale. The babysitter and her mother were shocked.
They contacted the real estate broker, who confirmed that the house was vacant.
All of the parties were concerned about what could have happened in this instance.
Sometimes, we simply don’t give enough importance to the red flags that are being waved in front of us. Nope. . .we just keep on keeping on.
In this video, the babysitter said that she felt something was off. It led her to do more research, and what she found was unsettling.
It might even have saved her life.
So, this is your reminder. If something feels off to you, take a moment to reflect why you are feeling that way. Conduct research. Reach out to others for guidance.
It could save you from a scam.
